Cycling in Singapore

1. It’s already been almost a year since I started working in Singapore.
싱가포르에서 주재원 생활을 시작한 지 벌써 1년이 다 되어 간다.

2. I finally got to take the trip I had been dreaming about for so long: a bicycle tour across Singapore.
오랫동안 꿈꿔 왔던 싱가포르 자전거 일주 여행을 마침내 감행하게 되었다.

3. Singapore is a city-state made up of islands. If you follow the shoreline all the way around, the distance is about 160 km.
싱가포르는 섬으로 이루어진 도시 국가인데, 해안선을 따라 한 바퀴 도는 거리는 약 160km 정도다.

4. Riding along the coast, I got to soak in amazing views.
해안선을 따라 자전거로 달리면서 멋진 풍경을 많이 볼 수 있었다.

5. As someone new to long-distance cycling, my bottom was sore and my knees hurt.
장거리 라이딩 초보자인 나로서는 엉덩이도 아프고 무릎 통증까지 덮쳤다.

6. But it was such a great experience that I was able to swallow the pain.
하지만 그 모든 고통을 감수할 만큼 정말 좋은 경험이었다.

8. Because of a sudden tropical squall that hit without warning, I couldn’t finish the entire course.
열대성 스콜이라는 예측할 수 없는 돌발 상황 때문에 전체 코스를 완주하지는 못했다.

9. But that unfinished attempt makes me want to go back and try again even more.
하지만 이런 미완의 시도가 오히려 다음 도전을 더욱 간절하게 만든다.
