Found Credit Card

1. On my way to the hospital, I happened to pick up a credit card someone had dropped.
병원에 가는 길에 누군가 떨어뜨린 신용 카드 한 장을 우연히 줍게 되었다.

2. I didn’t have time to take it to a police station.
파출소에 가져다주자니 시간이 너무 촉박했다.

3. But I couldn’t just leave it there either. I was worried someone else might pick it up and misuse it.
그렇다고 그대로 두고 가자니 누군가 주워서 악용할까 봐 걱정이 되었다.

4. So, I immediately called the credit card company, left my contact information, and asked them to get in touch with the owner.
즉시 카드사에 전화를 걸어 내 연락처를 남기고 카드 주인에게 연락을 부탁했다.

7. She said she hadn’t even realized she had lost her card.
본인은 카드를 잃어버린 줄도 모르고 있었다고 했다.

8. We met in the hospital lobby, and when I returned it, she thanked me over and over.
병원 로비에서 만나 카드를 돌려주자 그녀는 거듭 고마워했다.

9. As it turned out, she was there with her elderly mother. Without her credit card, she wouldn’t have been able to pay the hospital bill and would have been in real trouble.
알고 보니 연로하신 어머니를 모시고 온 상황이라, 카드가 없었다면 병원비 결제도 못하고 큰 낭패를 볼 뻔했다고 한다.
