1. Lazy perfectionists are people who chase perfection so much that they can't actually start anything.
 뭘 하든 너무 완벽을 추구하기에, 실제로 아무것도 시작하지 못하는 사람들을 ‘게으른 완벽주의자’라고 합니다.
 ● lazy perfectionists: 완벽주의 때문에 시작을 못 하는 사람들
  - Some lazy perfectionists spend more time planning than doing.
   (몇몇 게으른 완벽주의자들은 실행보다 계획에 더 많은 시간을 쓴다.)
  - Being a lazy perfectionist often leads to procrastination.
   (게으른 완벽주의자는 종종 미루기로 이어진다.)

2. I think a lot of us fit that description. We worry before we even begin, and then never actually follow through.
 우리는 무엇을 시작도 하기 전에 걱정부터 하고 정작 실행으로 옮기지 않습니다.
 ● before one even begins: 시작도 해보기 전에
  - Don’t give up before you even begin.
   (시작도 해보기 전에 포기하지는 마.)
  - The result was decided before we even began.
   (우리가 시작도 해보기 전에 결과는 정해져 있었다.)

3. When I first started studying English, I looked into a lot of different learning methods.
 저는 영어 공부를 처음 시작했을 때 다양한 학습법을 열심히 찾아보았습니다.
 ● look into something: (~에 대해) 알아보다, 조사하다
  - I looked into several online courses before choosing one.
   (저는 하나를 고르기 전에 여러 온라인 강의를 알아봤습니다.)
  - We need to look into this issue more carefully.
   (우리는 이 문제를 좀 더 신중히 조사할 필요가 있다.)

4. But all I really did was try out trendy study hacks. I neglected the one thing that I really needed to do, which was to practice speaking. In the end, it just left me feeling frustrated
 그러나 유행하는 학습법만 시도해 보고 정작 필요한 말하기 연습을 소홀히 했습니다. 결국 실망감만 들었던 것이 사실입니다.

 ● trendy study hacks: 유행하는 학습법
  - Most trendy study hacks are ineffective.
   (유행하는 학습법들은 대부분 효과가 없다.)
  - Consistency is more important than trendy study hacks.
   (유행하는 학습법보다 꾸준함이 더 중요하다.)

5. I eventually realized that the only way forward is to tackle English head-on.
 결국 영어를 계속 사용해 보고 직접 부딪쳐 보는 것만이 답이라는 것을 깨달았습니다.
 ● tackle something head-on: 정면으로 부딪치다
  - It’s time for us to tackle the problem head-on.
   (우리가 문제에 정면으로 부딪쳐 해결할 때가 왔다.)
  - They decided to tackle the scandal head-on.
   (그들은 스캔들에 정면 대응하기로 결정했다.)

6. Of course, I'm still not fully satisfied.
 물론 지금도 완전히 만족스럽지는 않습니다.
 ● not fully satisfied: 완전히 만족하지는 않는
  - She was not fully satisfied with her performance.
   (그녀는 자신의 퍼포먼스에 완전히 만족하지 않았다.)
  - I’m not fully satisfied, but it’s getting better.
   (완전히 만족스럽진 않지만 더 좋아지고 있다.)

7. But the moment I stopped fixating on perfection, it felt like anything is possible.
 하지만 완벽함을 내려놓는 순간, 오히려 모든 것이 가능해지는 느낌입니다.
 ● fixate on perfection: 완벽에 집착하다
  - People who fixate on perfection often struggle to take action.
   (완벽에 집착하는 사람들은 종종 행동으로 옮기기 어려워한다.)
  - Try not to fixate on perfection when starting something new.

A: I recently learned about something called "lazy perfectionists" in a book.
B: I have never heard of it. What does it mean?
A: It's when someone keeps planning to seek perfection, but never actually acts on it.
B: I think that sounds a little like me.
A: Following through is hard for everyone.
B: Yeah... I guess even if my plan isn't perfect, I should just start somewhere.

A: 얼마 전에 책에서 '게으른 완벽주의자'라는 것에 대해 알게 되었어.
B: 처음 들어 보는 단어인데, 무슨 뜻이야?
A: 계획은 완벽을 추구하는데, 정작 실행을 하지 않는 사람들을 말해,
B: 왠지 나도 비슷한 면이 있는 거 같은데?
A: 누구에게나 실천은 어려운 부분이야.
B: 맞아. 완벽한 계획이 아닐지라도, 일단 뭐라도 시작해 봐야겠다.
