Growing Mushrooms

1. I received a shiitake mushroom growing kit at an after-school program.
 방과 후 수업에서 표고버섯 키우기 키트를 받았습니다.

2. First, I soaked the mushrooms in water for a day.
 저는 우선 버섯을 하루 동안 물에 담가 놓았습니다.

3. Then I placed them on a log-shaped cylinder that came with the kit.
 그리고 키트에 들어 있던 나무토막같이 생긴 동그란 원기둥에 버섯을 잘 놓았습니다.

4. Since the mushrooms have quite a strong smell, I didn’t keep them indoors. Instead, I grew them out on the balcony where there’s no direct sunlight.
 이 버섯은 냄새가 꽤 강하기 때문에 실내에서 키우지 않고 직사광선이 안 드는 베란다에서 키웠습니다.

6. It was fascinating to watch them grow so well.
 버섯이 잘 자라는 모습을 보니 신기했습니다.

7. By the time they were ready, they looked nicer and cleaner than the ones you usually find in the store.
 다 키우고 보니, 시중에 파는 표고버섯보다 더 보기 좋고 깨끗해 보였습니다.

8. I don’t especially like mushrooms, but I still enjoyed eating them since I grew them myself.
 저는 버섯을 아주 좋아하는 편은 아니지만, 직접 키운 버섯이라 그래도 맛있게 먹었습니다.

A: I just sprayed them with water and kept them covered with plastic wrap
B: That's great. I am so proud of you.

A: 이 표고버섯 제가 직접 기른 거예요;
B: 정말? 엄청 잘 길렀네!
A: 이거 맛은 어때요?
B: 아주 고소하고 맛있어. 키우기 어렵지는 않았니?
A: 물을 뿌려 주고 비닐로 덮어 두기만 했어요.
B; 그랬구나. 참 기특하네.
