Diligence

1. I am now in my fifth year of studying English every day with “입트영.”
 저는 올해로 5년째 매일 <입트영>과 함께 영어 공부를 해 오고 있습니다.


2. I started studying with the goal of not forgetting the English I already knew.
 처음에는 알고 있는 영어라도 잊어버리지 말자는 취지로 공부를 시작했습니다.

 ● with the goal of: ~을 목표로

  - I took the course with the goal of cooking at home.
   (나는 집에서 요리하는 것을 목표로 수업을 들었다.)
  - I joined the club with the goal of making new friends.
   (나는 새 친구를 사귀는 것을 목표로 동호회에 가입했다.)

3. But as I kept going, learning new expressions for various topics each day, I could feel my English gradually expanding.
 그런데 매일 다양한 분야의 주제들로 새로운 표현을 배우는 것을 계속 하다 보니, 저의 영어가 점점 확장되어 가는 것이 느껴졌습니다.

4. When I watch American TV shows or movies, I sometimes catch words and expressions I first learned from “입트영.”
 미드나 영화를 볼 때 <입트영>에서 처음 배운 단어나 표현들이 들릴 때가 있습니다.

5. When I am out walking and come across a situation, I find myself imagining how to describe it in English. And often, the phrases I’ve recently studied pop right into my head.
 길을 가다가 어떤 상황을 마주칠 때, 그 상황을 영어로 말하는 상상을 하면, 최근에 배운 표현들이 자동으로 떠오를 때가 많습니다.

 ● pop right into one’s head: 바로 떠오르다
  - Sometimes, the phrases I’ve recently studied pop right into my head.
   (최근에 배운 표현들이 자동으로 떠오를 때도 있습니다.)
  - A great idea popped right into my head almost immediately.
   (거의 곧바로 좋은 생각이 번쩍 떠올랐다.)
  - The song lyrics still pop right into my head even now.
   (아직까지도 그 노래의 가사가 바로바로 떠오른다.)

6. It may only be little by little, but I feel proud of myself for making steady progress.
 아주 조금씩이기는 하지만, 이렇게 꾸준히 발전해 가는 제 모습에 뿌듯한 마음이 듭니다.

 ● make steady progress: 꾸준히 발전하다
  - I feel proud of myself for making steady progress.
   (꾸준히 발전해 가는 제 모습에 뿌듯한 마음이 듭니다.)
  - It’s difficult, but we’re making steady progress.
   (쉽지 않지만 우리는 꾸준히 발전하고 있다.)
  - The important thing is to keep making steady progress.
   (중요한 것은 꾸준히 진전을 이루는 것이다.)

7. It really demonstrates to me the power of consistency, day after day.
 그만큼 하루하루 쌓이는 꾸준함의 힘을 실감하게 해 줍니다.






<Dialogue Practice>
A: Do you usually study in advance before the "입트영" broadcasts?
B: Of course. Previewing the content is a must.
A: Oh, really?
B: Yes, if you go over the material beforehand, you can understand much better during the show.
A: Oh, why haven't I been doing that all this time?
B: Try it, starting today. You'll definitely feel a difference.

A: <입트영> 방송 전에 보통 예습을 하세요?
B: 그럼요. 예습은 필수지요.
A: 아, 그래요?
B: 네, 미리 내용을 한번 보면 방송이 훨씬 머리에 잘 들어와요.
A: 아이고, 저는 왜 지금까지 그렇게 안 했을까요?
B: 오늘부터 한번 해 보세요. 확실히 차이가 느껴질 거예요.
