Study group

1. Since September 2023, our group has been doing daily English recitation check-ins through a group chat.
    우리 팀은 2023년 9월부터 단체 톡방에서 매일 영어 낭독 인증을 해 오고 있다.

 

● recitation: 암송, 낭독
  - The student gave a recitation of the poem.
    (그 학생은 시를 암송했다.)

● check-in: 확인, 점검
  - We had a quick check-in before the meeting.
    (우리는 회의 전에 간단히 점검했다.)

2. We mainly use the "입트영" textbook, but it's up to each member what to recite.
    우리는 주로 "입트영" 교재를 사용하지만, 어떤 내용을 낭독할지는 각자에게 달려 있다.

 

● up to: ~에 달려 있는
  - It’s up to you to decide.
    (결정은 네게 달려 있다.)

● recite: 암송하다, 낭독하다
  - He recited a poem from memory.
    (그는 시를 암송했다.)

3. We record ourselves reciting English for a minute and upload the audio file.
    우리는 1분간 영어를 낭독하며 녹음하고, 그 오디오 파일을 업로드한다.

 

● record: 녹음하다
  - Please record the meeting.
    (회의를 녹음해 주세요.)

● upload: 업로드하다
  - She uploaded the file yesterday.
    (그녀는 어제 파일을 업로드했다.)

4. Our motto is, "Just starting over restores a broken routine."
    우리의 모토는 “깨진 루틴은 다시 시작하는 것만으로 회복된다”이다.

 

● motto: 좌우명
  - Her motto is “Never give up.”
    (그녀의 좌우명은 “절대 포기하지 마라”이다.)

● routine: 일상, 규칙적인 습관
  - Exercise became part of his daily routine.
    (운동은 그의 일상 루틴의 일부가 되었다.)

● restore: 회복하다, 되찾다
  - Sleep can help restore your energy.
    (잠은 에너지를 회복하는 데 도움이 된다.)

5. Even if someone misses a day or two, they can just jump back in like nothing happened.
    누군가 하루이틀을 빠뜨리더라도, 아무 일도 없었던 듯 다시 참여할 수 있다.

 

● miss a day or two: 하루이틀 빠지다
  - Even if someone misses a day or two, they can just start again.
    (누구든 하루이틀 빠지더라도 그냥 다시 시작하면 된다.)
  - I started to miss a day or two after the first month.
    (첫 달이 지나자 나는 하루이틀씩 빠지기 시작했다.)
  - You’ll start to feel lazy if you start to miss a day or two.
    (하루이틀 빠지기 시작하면 게을러질 것이다.)

● like nothing happened: 아무 일도 없었던 듯이
  - They can just jump back in like nothing happened.
    (별일 없었던 듯 다시 참여하면 된다.)
  - We became friends again like nothing happened.
    (우리는 아무 일도 없었던 것처럼 다시 친해졌다.)
  - I tried to act like nothing happened.
    (나는 대수롭지 않다는 듯 행동하려고 했다.)

● jump back in: 다시 참여하다, 다시 시작하다
  - Don’t worry, you can jump back in anytime.
    (걱정하지 마, 언제든 다시 참여할 수 있어.)

6. Restarting can be just as hard as starting in the first place, so we try to keep things low-pressure. That helps everyone keep going.
    다시 시작하는 것은 처음 시작하는 것만큼 어렵기 때문에, 우리는 상황을 부담스럽지 않게 유지하려 한다. 이것이 모두가 계속 이어가도록 돕는다.

 

● restart: 다시 시작하다
  - You can always restart the game.
    (게임은 언제든 다시 시작할 수 있다.)

● in the first place: 애초에, 처음부터
  - I shouldn’t have gone there in the first place.
    (나는 애초에 거기에 가지 말았어야 했다.)

● low-pressure: 부담 없는, 압박이 적은
  - It’s a low-pressure environment for beginners.
    (초보자들에게 부담 없는 환경이다.)

● keep going: 계속하다, 이어가다
  - She told me to keep going despite the difficulties.
    (그녀는 어려움에도 불구하고 계속하라고 말했다.)

7. After a year of reading and writing in English every day, I've started to feel like English is becoming a natural part of my daily life.
    1년 동안 매일 영어를 읽고 쓰면서, 영어가 내 일상의 자연스러운 일부가 되고 있다는 것을 실감한다.

    (영어가 자연스럽게 생활에 스며들고 있음을 실감한다.)
  - Running has become part of my daily life.
    (러닝은 이제 나의 일상이 되었다.)

    (영어 공부는 생활의 일부분이 되어야 한다.)

● natural: 자연스러운
  - Speaking English feels natural now.
    (이제 영어를 말하는 것이 자연스럽게 느껴진다.)

8. I hope we can all continue this routine and move closer to our personal goals.
    앞으로도 이 루틴을 계속 이어가면서 각자의 목표에 더 가까워지기를 바란다.

 

● hope: 바라다, 희망하다
  - I hope you have a good day.
    (좋은 하루 보내길 바란다.)

● routine: 일상, 규칙적인 습관
  - He follows a morning routine every day.
    (그는 매일 아침 루틴을 따른다.)
